The Urban Forestry Part Time Worker will provide assistance to the Urban Forestry Supervisor with tree and shrub care, the care and use of related equipment, tree related projects, and help maintain JCPRD's nursery operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum age 18 years and older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Interest in natural resource management.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Good driving record verified through a background check.
  • Ability to work outdoors and tolerate the climate and conditions of natural areas typical to NE Kansas.
  • Reference/background screening for all positions.

  • Advanced coursework in natural resource management.

Responsibilities

  • Mowing, string trimming, mulching, and grounds maintenance etc.
  • Operate equipment and trucks as trained, assigned, and licensed.
  • Understanding and carrying out verbal and written instructions.
  • Assisting with tree removals, pruning, and debris disposals.
  • Safely using tools and equipment like chippers, stump grinders, and chainsaws to carry out maintenance tasks.
  • Inspecting equipment and tools and performing repairs and maintenance when required.
  • Using appropriate gear and observing safety protocols.
  • Extracting and disposing of invasive plants.
  • Planting and watering of new and young trees.
  • Assist in JCPRD's nursery operations.
