About The Position

Intrepid Travel is seeking passionate individuals to join their team as Urban Adventures Lead Guides in Toronto. This role involves providing administrative support (approximately 5 hours per week), covering tours when other guides are unavailable, and assisting with on-the-ground customer issues or escalations. The Urban Adventures tours aim to showcase Toronto's vibrant culture, hidden gems, and diverse food scene, allowing travelers to experience the city like a local. This is a contracted role in Toronto, Ontario, lasting until approximately October. Tours are about 3 hours long, with pay ranging from $120-$129 per tour, plus gratuities.

Requirements

• Passion and knowledge for and of your destination (Toronto).
• A passion for travel, food, culture, and/or history.
• Excellent story-telling skills.
• Excellent communication skills with individuals and groups of people.
• Empathy and emotional intelligence.
• High standards for customer experience.
• An understanding of and belief in Intrepid’s Responsible Travel philosophy and Core Values.
• Outstanding organizational management skills.
• Problem-solving and decision-making capacities.
• A friendly, engaging, and energetic personality.

Nice To Haves

• Excellent communication in English and ideally one other local language.
• Strong customer service experience and experience in developing rapport with a broad range of travelers.
• Ability to manage trip budget and handle sums of money.
• Map reading skills and a good sense of direction.
• Current First Aid and CPR Certificates recommended.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative support (approximately 5 hours per week).
• Step in to cover tours when other guides are unavailable.
• Assist with handling on-the-ground customer issues or escalations.
• Inspire travelers and help them fall in love with their destination by immersing them in local culture and exposing them to real-life experiences.
• Deliver authentic, sustainable, local, and immersive travel experiences.
• Showcase the energy of Toronto, including hidden neighborhood gems, incredible global food scenes, and the stories that make the city vibrant and diverse.
