About The Position

We are seeking a teacher for the Upper School LIFE (special education) program. This position would serve in inclusion roles and support tutoring efforts for students with learning differences. The LIFE Teacher exemplifies the school’s mission and vision to all stakeholders. 10 Month Position. Attend school and EPA functions Credentials: Special Education degree or background/related field, ideally advanced degree. Experience with reading, understanding, and implementing psycho-educational evaluations REPORTING CHAIN OF COMMAND LIFE Teacher reports to the Head of the Upper School. OBJECTIVES Primary Job Functions The LIFE Teacher has a relationship with the Lord that includes an active membership in a local church. Accordingly, he or she must be morally upright in public and personal life. The LIFE Teacher will support and teach the core beliefs held by the school. The LIFE Teacher will lead in dress, conduct, attitude, and intellectual pursuit. The LIFE Teacher will maintain relationships with students and foster an atmosphere that models Christ-like interaction, positively promotes student development, and inspires a love of learning. He or she understands that as ambassadors for Christ, students are his or her first ministry.

Requirements

  • Special Education degree or background/related field, ideally advanced degree.
  • Experience with reading, understanding, and implementing psycho-educational evaluations

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Dual Instructor in general education classes to provide real-time support for students.
  • Host small resource classes, tutorials, or study halls to provide direct intervention based on the student's Academic Support Plan (ASP).
  • Support students in developing skills to advocate for their own needs and services.
  • Employ a variety of research-based methods to encourage and challenge students while guiding them to a higher level of skill and self-confidence.
  • Consistently communicate and collaborate with administrators, faculty, and parents regarding student progress and successes.
