About The Position

This position involves moving assembled frames using a transfer cart, operating a pneumatically powered upholstery lift controlled by a foot pedal, and performing various upholstery tasks. Responsibilities include stapling filler material and fabric/leather to frames using a pneumatic staple gun, cutting excess material with scissors, smoothing seams with a regulator, and attaching buttons and twine for tufted frames. The role also requires trimming excess fabric with a box cutter, attaching plygrip and tack bands to frames, and occasionally lifting frames for repairs. The trainee will move frames back onto the conveyor line and may be assigned other duties as instructed.

Requirements

  • Ability to use a transfer cart to move assembled frames.
  • Proficiency in operating a pneumatic staple gun.
  • Skill in using scissors for cutting.
  • Ability to use a regulator (ice pick) for smoothing and tucking seams.
  • Experience with a button needle for tufted frames.
  • Competence in using a box cutter (razor blade).
  • Ability to attach plygrip and tack bands.
  • Skill in using a rubber mallet.
  • Ability to pull and stretch fabric/leather to ensure desired fit.
  • Physical ability to rarely lift frames for repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Move assembled frames from conveyor to upholstery lift using a transfer cart.
  • Operate a pneumatically powered upholstery lift using a foot pedal.
  • Staple filler material (foam) to the frame with a pneumatic staple gun.
  • Cut excessive filler material from the frame using scissors.
  • Attach fabric/leather to the frame using a pneumatic staple gun, stretching the material for a proper fit.
  • Smooth and tuck seams using a regulator for a finished appearance.
  • For tufted frames, use a button needle to attach buttons and twine, pull tight, tie off, and staple to the frame.
  • Trim excessive fabric around finished wood portions of the frame with a box cutter.
  • Attach plygrip to frame edges and tuck fabric using a regulator.
  • Push tack band through fabric edges, roll once, and attach to the frame with a rubber mallet.
  • Rarely lift frames off the assembly conveyor for repairs.
  • Move frames back onto the conveyor and push them down the line.
  • Perform other duties or special assignments as instructed.
