Flexjet, an award-winning organization, is looking to add talented Upholstery Technicians to the team! These technicians will work with beautiful, high-quality fabric and leather to curate bespoke interiors for Flexjet's fleet of aircraft.

Requirements

  • Secondary school diploma required and/or completion of College/CEGEP/technical training in a related field preferred.
  • Extensive upholstery experience, ideally working with seating and leather materials.
  • Experience in an aviation-related field is preferred.
  • Skill to operate industrial, single, multi-needle sewing machines, sergers, overlocks, piping or binding machines.
  • Skilled at operating machines to join sections of seating material (typically, leather) as well as other components into finished products used within aircraft interiors.
  • Understand and work from blueprints as well as other written instructions and design specifications.
  • Strong mathematical knowledge is required, as is the ability to make accurate measurements and finish materials to a high level of quality and precision.
  • Excellent planning, organization and coordination skills.
  • Excellent judgment with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand and follow direction with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively orally and written.
  • Ability to trouble-shoot and problem solve.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Self-motivated and able to maintain a rapid pace.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • General knowledge of aircraft cabinets and components, including repairing, modifying, refurbishing, and fabricating aircraft seating and interior components including stripping and re-covering existing interior coverings.
  • High attention to detail not only for the purposes of appearance and ergonomics, but also for safety and structural integrity purposes.
  • Familiar with breakdown, building up and troubleshooting of aircraft seats and interior components.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, repair, modify, and refurbish aircraft seats, divans, sidewalls and associated components, including the re-upholstery of panels, liners and sidewalls, to high degrees of finish quality and structural safety.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with high-grade leather materials from blueprints, drawings and other illustrations or written work instructions.
  • Plan, prepare and cut materials to standardized patterns for stitching and fitting to customer and engineered requirements.
  • Possess all the various skills needed to build and break down a cabin seat.
  • Measure, cut and prepare foam materials used in the upholstery process.
  • Strip and recover seats and their components.
  • Match, adhere and fasten together materials or components using adhesives.
  • Fit, build-up, assemble and finish seating and other upholstered components from materials fabricated and manufactured onsite.
  • Cover large monuments such as headliners and sidewalls.
  • Perform work in a productive, diligent, careful and safe manner.
  • Complete any special projects or other tasks as required or assigned. May be assigned to other areas of operations, based on business or customer requirements.
  • Work in compliance with all Administrative, Health & Safety policies and procedures as per legislative requirements and as outlined in Company policies.
