About The Position

Southern Tire Mart is seeking an experienced Upfitter Technician to join their team. This role involves installing and modifying equipment on vehicles to meet custom specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, experience with various tools and systems, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to lift/move parts and equipment weighing up to 100 lbs., with or without assistance.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience as an upfitter, mechanic, fabricator, or installer preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install and mount equipment such as service bodies, liftgates, cranes, toolboxes, lighting systems, and auxiliary components.
• Modify and fabricate vehicle parts to fit custom specifications.
• Perform wiring, hydraulic, and pneumatic system installations and repairs.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, work orders, and installation instructions.
• Ensure all installations comply with manufacturer specifications and safety regulations.
• Inspect completed work for quality, accuracy, and functionality.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in safe and organized condition.
• Communicate with supervisors, project managers, or customers regarding requirements and progress.
• Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and OSHA standards.
