About The Position

The University Security Officer I is responsible for patrolling the campus and other assigned areas to enforce laws, rules, and regulations for the protection and security of personnel and property. This role involves detecting and preventing violations, conducting investigations, preparing reports, and taking appropriate action. The position is located at Honolulu Community College and involves working rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of progressively responsible work experience in the enforcement of security laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the protection of personnel and property.
  • Possess a current, valid State of Hawaii Security Guard License at the time of appointment.
  • Possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
  • Obtain valid First Aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificates or equivalent within six (6) months from the date of employment.
  • Satisfy employment eligibility verification requirements of the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
  • Pass reference checks of previous employers.
  • Pass a thorough investigation of an applicant's suitability for employment before being hired.
