The University Policy Analyst is a core member of the University Policy Office and serves as the office’s primary lead for policies.unc.edu, UNC -Chapel Hill’s centralized policy repository. The position reports to the Associate Director of the University Policy Office and collaborates closely with policy owners, legal and compliance staff, and other stakeholders across the institution. The analyst’s responsibilities are organized around three areas of work: Policy Repository Management- The analyst serves as the office’s subject-matter expert for policies.unc.edu, overseeing its content management system, back-end configuration, and user permissions. Core day-to-day work includes reviewing policies submitted by campus stakeholders, evaluating them for clarity, completeness, and alignment with University standards, and publishing approved policies and updates to the repository. Policy Analysis and Benchmarking- The analyst researches peer institution policies and practices to support evidence-based policy development at UNC -Chapel Hill, communicating findings to senior University officials through verbal briefings and formal policy memoranda. This requires quickly developing a working knowledge of new subject areas and translating that knowledge into clear, actionable analysis. Stakeholder Engagement- The analyst builds and maintains collaborative relationships with policy owners and campus stakeholders, helping them navigate the policy review and approval process and ensuring the office’s work continues to meet institutional needs. In addition to these core responsibilities, the analyst will play a key role in testing and refining UNC -Chapel Hill’s Generative AI-powered policy chatbot as the office continues to iterate on the platform in response to real-world usage and the evolving capabilities of Generative AI. The analyst will also have meaningful opportunities to help shape the future of policy administration at UNC -Chapel Hill as the University implements the direction set by the Board of Trustees’ September 2025 Policy Resolution. Other duties may include serving on University or unit-level working groups and committees and briefing senior University officials on policy matters.
