About The Position

Grand Canyon Education (GCE) is an educational service company that supports Grand Canyon University (GCU). This role is for a University Admissions Counselor to oversee the Phoenix, AZ territory. The counselor will work to build awareness of GCU's academic programs and campus community, drive inquiry generation, and provide exceptional counseling to prospective community college students and their families. The position involves extensive community involvement, engaging with students, faculty, and staff at local community colleges, and guiding students through the admissions process from application through their first few weeks on campus. The role is described as a work-from-home position with ambitious targets, requiring independent work and critical thinking to support students in making important educational decisions.

Requirements

  • Must live in or near Phoenix, AZ.
  • A bachelor’s degree.
  • No delinquent or in default on a federal student loan as verified in your credit report (if in a rehabilitation program, credit report must reflect current, not delinquent, payments).
  • Outstanding time management and organization skills.
  • Clear communication and engaging presentation skills.
  • Well-developed listening skills.
  • Self-motivation and drive to succeed.
  • High emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Reliable transportation.

  • Willingness to travel extensively in your territory.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Phoenix, AZ territory.
  • Be involved in the community through hosting and implementing event/activity plans for your territory.
  • Build awareness of academic programs and campus community.
  • Drive inquiry generation.
  • Provide exceptional counseling to prospective students and their families (in-person, over the phone, via email, text, or Zoom).
  • Champion the GCE mission, promoting Grand Canyon University student success and institutional growth.
  • Connect with community college students, faculty, and staff in local community colleges.
  • Engage all major stakeholders in your territory.
  • Maintain a full schedule that includes fairs, school visits, presentations, community/campus events, and hosting campus visits.
  • Be the face of Grand Canyon University in your territory and promote its transformation.
  • Support prospective Grand Canyon University campus students and families through the admissions process.
  • Guide students on the right path towards a successful campus experience.
