About The Position

Expressive Beginnings is seeking a warm and caring Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) Teacher who is passionate about working with young children and possesses the ability to facilitate learning through play and child-initiated interests. This role involves working with 4- and 5-year-old children in a fun and supportive childcare environment. Requirements

  • Must have a NY state teaching certification birth through Second or Birth through Sixth
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Education
  • Demonstrate knowledge of NY state child care regulations
  • Must be a sensitive mature person who is able to relate well to both children and adults

Responsibilities

  • Oversee UPK classroom from 8:30am – 3:30pm
  • Plan, implement, and supervise the program for the class consistent with the centers policies, philosophy, and curriculum.
  • Work in conjunction with Greece Central School district to help children meet school standards.
  • Keep the classroom in compliance with all NY state regulations.
  • Maintain required documentation. Input data for district (report cards, assessments, etc.)
  • Gear program to the needs of individual children in concern for their interests, special needs and talents, and pace of learning.
  • Teach proper health care in regards to toileting, nutrition, dental, physical care and cleaning of the children if necessary. Make sure classroom is cleaned and sanitized
  • Maintain the ordered arrangement, appearance, décor, and learning environment of the classroom.
  • Communicate with parents regarding information concerning their child and their daily activities of the center, and inform the Director of any parent concerns. Have a least 2 conference with UPK parents.
  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, and conferences required for staff and UPK. Attend any trainings that the GCSD schedules for UPK or District Professionals.
  • Complete any training required by OCFS licensing including but not limited to Foundations of Health and Safety, Mandated Reporter Training, Shaking Baby Syndrome, and ACE’s.
  • Work well with team members to plan for and assess the children.
  • Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs.
