About The Position

Expressive Beginnings Child Care, a locally owned and operated childcare center, is seeking a warm, caring teacher passionate about working with young children and facilitating learning through play and child-initiated interests. The teacher will work with children ages 4 and 5 and oversee a UPK classroom from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The role involves planning, implementing, and supervising the classroom program in line with the center’s policies, philosophy, and curriculum, and working with the Greece Central School District to help children meet school standards. The teacher will maintain compliance with New York State regulations and required documentation, including district data such as report cards and assessments. The teacher will adapt the program to individual children’s interests, special needs, talents, and learning pace; support children’s health and care routines; and maintain a clean, sanitized, orderly, and engaging classroom environment. The position also includes communicating with parents, attending required meetings and trainings, and collaborating with team members to plan for and assess children. The position pays $22.00–$25.00 per hour. Final compensation is based on factors including budget, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The role is full-time.

Requirements

New York State teaching certification for Birth through Second Grade or Birth through Sixth Grade.
At least a bachelor’s degree in Education.
Knowledge of New York State childcare regulations.
A sensitive, mature disposition and the ability to relate well to children and adults.
Ability to lift at least 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

Oversee the UPK classroom from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Plan, implement, and supervise the classroom program in accordance with the center’s policies, philosophy, and curriculum.
Work with the Greece Central School District to help children meet school standards.
Keep the classroom in compliance with New York State regulations.
Maintain required documentation and enter district data, including report cards and assessments.
Adapt the program to individual children’s interests, special needs, talents, and pace of learning.
Teach and support proper health care, including toileting, nutrition, dental care, physical care, and cleaning children when necessary.
Ensure the classroom is cleaned and sanitized and maintain its orderly arrangement, appearance, décor, and learning environment.
Communicate with parents about their child and daily activities, inform the Director of parent concerns, and hold at least two UPK parent conferences.
Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and conferences, including trainings scheduled by the Greece Central School District for UPK or district professionals.
Complete OCFS licensing training, including Foundations of Health and Safety, Mandated Reporter Training, Shaking Baby Syndrome, and ACEs.
Collaborate with team members to plan for and assess children.
