About The Position

Georgia’s Own Credit Union is seeking Universal Bankers (Universal Banker I or Universal Banker II) to join their team. In these roles, you will combine teller and sales responsibilities to assist members with transactions, account openings, loans, and overall financial needs. You will act as a trusted resource, build strong relationships, recommend appropriate solutions, and ensure a positive experience for every member. Requirements

  • High school diploma and equivalent years of experience.
  • One to five years’ experience in a financial branch-environment or experience comparable within the financial industry or a retail sales environment.
  • Ability to communicate with members and others at all levels of the Credit Union, in both written and verbal formats.
  • Experience with the loan application process and standard or typical internal operating policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of current industry offers, market trends, competitors, and Credit Union lending and member service policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates the ability to interpret and apply financial information (e.g., credit scores, debt, assets, balances, payments, interest rates, etc.) and perform math functions (e.g., addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, ratios, etc.).
  • Demonstrates analytical thinking, problem solving, decision making, and judgment by gathering and applying relevant data to research and resolve issues.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point software applications.
  • Candidates must be able to pass a background check including: Credit, Drug Screen, Bondability, & Criminal Background.
  • All positions that have lending responsibilities must comply with all requirements under the SAFE ACT, as well as the Credit Union’s policies and procedures related to the SAFE ACT.
  • The employee must notify the Credit Union within 30 days of any changes that need to be reflected on the NMLS registry.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Provide coverage at other branches when necessary and work Saturday rotation schedule.
  • Employee will be asked to sit and stand for various increments of time, and to lift/push up 10 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a welcoming, high-quality member experience across in-person, phone, and digital channels.
  • Process everyday financial transactions accurately, including deposits, withdrawals, payments, and official checks.
  • Handle loan administration and maintenance activities, including gathering information, preparing documentation, updating records, and guiding members through next steps.
  • Identify member needs and confidently recommend deposit and lending solutions that align with their financial goals.
  • Demonstrate sales aptitude by building relationships, recognizing opportunities, and promoting products and services that add value for members.
  • Open and maintain consumer and business accounts, resolve member concerns, and provide ongoing account support.
  • Use branch technology and internal systems effectively while documenting interactions and follow-up needs.
  • Maintain compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements while contributing to strong branch operations and teamwork.
