About The Position

The Universal Banker conducts teller and cash vault transactions accurately and promptly while selling and servicing bank products and services. The role works with operations and sales teams to grow deposit, business, and consumer relationships, provide operational support, and deliver exceptional customer service. The banker may be asked to support other branch locations as business needs arise, including staffing shortages, high customer volume, or special events. A professional image consistent with the Byline Bank Employee Handbook is required.

Requirements

• High school degree or GED.
• At least 3 years of experience in a banking environment.
• Detail orientation and excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment, with a strong desire to learn, good leadership skills, independent judgment, discretionary thinking, and creativity.
• Working knowledge of banking regulatory requirements.
• Knowledge of a wide variety of retail bank products and administrative support.
• Strong time-management skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate professionally, accurately, and clearly with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to make sound judgments balancing customer service and risk to the bank, and to recognize when to escalate issues to management.
• Ability to improve efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and productivity without sacrificing excellent customer service.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• At least 1 year of experience as a teller, personal banker, or universal banker.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and direct incoming calls to appropriate staff.
• Process transactions and new account openings accurately, promptly, and professionally.
• Identify process improvements that enhance the customer experience and communicate ideas to Branch Management.
• Assess and handle retail customers’ banking needs; obtain and process customer and account information, including cash handling.
• Open and service accounts and identify cross-selling opportunities for new and existing customers.
• Contact potential and existing customers to promote bank products and services, develop new business, expand relationships, and support bank profitability.
• Provide exceptional customer service and sales support while maintaining a professional attitude.
• Maintain accuracy and compliance in account documentation.
• Minimize the risk of losses, including cash differences and other controllable losses.
• Maintain current knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations, as well as bank policies and procedures.
• Process teller transactions accurately and promptly, including deposits, withdrawals, payments, transfers, check cashing, and negotiable purchases.
• Process and validate coin and currency amounts for incoming and outgoing cash shipments.
• Maintain current knowledge of competitor products, services, and promotions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
