About The Position

The Universal Banker is responsible for deepening customer relationships, attracting additional customers, and improving customer service. This position primarily assists with opening new deposits, selling additional products to customers and prospects, and supporting the overall sales efforts of the bank. Duties include teller services, problem resolution, maintenance changes, and opening/closing safe deposit boxes. The role also involves completing sales activities to attract new customers, such as originating letters, soliciting banking relationships, and developing prospect lists, as directed by the Branch Manager.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Two-three years customer service or teller experience.
  • Skills needed in a typical office environment: computer skills, communication skills, utilization of office equipment.
  • Dexterity to count money.
  • Valid driver’s license required for travel.

Responsibilities

  • Assist walk-in customers with new account needs (checking, savings, certificates, IRAs) as a backup to Relationship Banker.
  • Understand and explain the value of various bank products to customers.
  • Assist walk-in and phone customers with account-related problems or service issues.
  • Perform sales, cross-selling, and referral activities for customers and prospects, with set production goals.
  • Assist with product promotions.
  • Contact customers by phone to solicit account relationships.
  • Perform paying and receiving functions for customers, including deposits, withdrawals, and transfers.
  • Sell cashier checks, money orders, gift cards, and provide related services.
  • Understand and comply with relevant laws and compliance regulations for teller duties (e.g., Bank Secrecy Act, privacy, funds availability policy).
  • Provide a high level of customer service by understanding customer needs and bank products.
  • Support customers with account maintenance questions (e.g., address changes, check orders).
  • Understand, utilize, encourage, and sell electronic delivery products (online and mobile banking).
  • Troubleshoot common questions and concerns regarding online and mobile banking products.
  • Support the overall sales effort with direct sales goals for items like debit cards, direct deposit, and automated banking.
  • Assist with individual sales goals.
  • Participate in retail product campaigns.
  • Be aware of overall bank product offerings to refer customers to appropriate departments.
  • Assist in the support of other bank activities as part of the overall team.
  • Active involvement in the community.
  • Follow procedures and policies for compliance with Bank policies and federal/state banking regulatory agencies.
  • Comply with bank standards for attendance and hours of work.
