About The Position

This is a full-time Unit Technician position in the Med Surg unit. The role involves assisting with patient care, room preparation, and clerical duties within the nursing unit.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred
• Ability to perform basic patient care tasks
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
• Basic computer skills

Nice To Haves

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
• Experience with electronic health records (EHR)

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation of patient rooms and beds for receiving patient admissions, patients returning from surgical procedures, transfers, emergencies and discharges.
• Assist in and accompanies patients in the admission, transfer and discharge procedures.
• Provides post-mortem care and assists in transporting bodies to the morgue.
• Provides daily hygiene care, which may include bed baths, oral hygiene, combing hair, skin care, dressing patients, changing and/or freshening bed linen, cleaning overbed tables and bedside stands, straightening room and other general care as necessary throughout the day.
• Assist RN or LPN with patient care interventions.
• Answers telephone and call lights. Takes messages and communicates messages to proper person. Communication is effective, courteous and tactful.
• Performs clerical duties related to the admission, transfer and discharge of patients.
• Assist patients, visitors and physicians in the nursing unit.
• Compiles new charts, maintains current charts and enters patient information in the computer, and other necessary forms.
