About The Position
This role involves assisting nursing staff with patient care and clerical duties on a Medical-Surgical unit. Key responsibilities include preparing patient rooms, providing direct patient hygiene care, assisting with interventions and care plans, managing patient admissions/transfers/discharges, and monitoring cardiac rhythms.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably as a CNA or PCT
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Ability to monitor cardiac rhythms
- Basic computer skills for electronic health records
Nice To Haves
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Patient Care Technician (PCT) certification
- Experience with electronic health record systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparation of patient rooms for receiving patient admissions
- Provides daily hygiene care, which may include bed baths, oral hygiene, combing hair, skin care, dressing patients, changing and/or freshening bed linen, cleaning overbed tables and bedside stands, straightening room and other general care as necessary throughout the day
- Assist Nursing staff with patient interventions and contributes to Nursing Care Plans
- Perform clerical duties related to admission, transfer and discharge of patients
- Maintains ongoing surveillance of patient's cardiac rhythms
- Initiates and discontinues monitoring equipment on admission, transfer or discharge
