About The Position

The Unit Secretary role on 4 Center (4C OB Special Care and Antepartum Women's Health) at Butterworth Hospital involves providing clerical support for high-risk pregnancy patients with various complications such as early labor, premature rupture of membranes, fetal growth issues, high blood pressure, and diabetes management. This unit also serves patients with multiples requiring frequent monitoring and can act as an overflow for post-partum patients. Butterworth Hospital is a nationally recognized hospital in Grand Rapids, known for quality and safety, and is the flagship hospital for Corewell Health Grand Rapids Hospitals.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 2 years of related experience is preferred
• Successful completion of competency based orientation program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Required within 60 days for Grand Rapids Inpatient Women's Health
• 2 years of relevant experience in a healthcare setting with use of Microsoft Office (Outlook Calendar, Microsoft Word, etc) is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs receptionist/secretarial duties.
• Maintains confidential records, supplies, and equipment per hospital and unit specific standards.
• Takes phone calls.
• Assists visitors and outside team members with directions to the unit.
• Calls support when directed by clinical staff.
• Assists with discharge, admit, and transfer paperwork.
• Orders supplies.
• Ensures rooms are appropriately stocked.
• Answers call lights for non-direct patient care needs.
• May be required to interface with patients in a clinical setting.
• Performs assistive patient care activities under supervision and as delegated by a Registered Nurse (RN), including transporting patients and passing waters per unit standards.
• Transports equipment to patient care areas as needed.
