About The Position

The Unit Secretary position is for the 4 Center, which is the OB Special Care and Antepartum Women's Health unit at Butterworth Hospital. This unit cares for high-risk pregnancy patients with various complications, including early labor, premature rupture of membranes, fetal growth issues, high blood pressure, and diabetes management. It also monitors patients with multiples (twins/triplets) and may serve as an overflow for some post-partum patients. Butterworth Hospital is a nationally recognized hospital for patient quality and safety, located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Required within 60 days for Grand Rapids Inpatient Women's Health

Nice To Haves

• 2 years of relevant experience in a healthcare setting
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook Calendar, Microsoft Word, etc.)
• Successful completion of competency based orientation program.

Responsibilities

• Performs receptionist/secretarial duties.
• Maintains confidential records, supplies, and equipment per hospital and unit specific standards.
• Takes phone calls.
• Assists visitors and outside team members with directions to the unit.
• Calls support when directed by clinical staff.
• Assists with discharge, admit, and transfer paperwork.
• Orders supplies.
• Ensures rooms are appropriately stocked.
• Answers call lights for non-direct patient care needs.
• May be required to interface with patients in a clinical setting.
• Performs assistive patient care activities under supervision and as delegated by a Registered Nurse (RN), including transporting patients and passing waters per unit standards.
• Transports equipment to patient care areas as needed.
