About The Position

Cary Medical Center has an exciting opportunity for a Unit Secretary/CNA to join their Acute Care Unit. The successful applicant will manage incoming information via telephone, call bell and direct conversation by directing the appropriate person. This individual will participate in up-staffing and down-staffing for the present and incoming shift in collaboration with the Charge Nurse/Supervisor/Nurse Manager and will performs CNA functions when requested.

Requirements

  • Active valid CNA certificate in Maine.
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Obtain BLS certification within 1 year of hire into this position and maintain current certification thereafter.

Responsibilities

  • Manage incoming information via telephone, call bell and direct conversation by directing the appropriate person.
  • Participate in up-staffing and down-staffing for the present and incoming shift in collaboration with the Charge Nurse/Supervisor/Nurse Manager.
  • Perform CNA functions when requested.
  • Promote patient safety and abide by the patient fall risk program and complete fall risk rounding at least twice per shift.
  • Obtain and document vital signs and report abnormal findings to patient’s nurse.
  • Perform daily weights and report abnormal findings to patient’s nurse.
  • Appropriately document ADLs, ambulation, intake and output, vital signs, weights, safety rounding, and any other patient care activities performed throughout shift.
  • Ensure that patients have fresh water, while appropriately observing patients with NPO status or fluid restrictions.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living along with providing them with supplies.
  • Assist in ambulating patient according to physician order.
