About The Position

Cary Medical Center is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join their Acute Care Unit. In this role, the CNA will manage incoming information via telephone, call bell, and direct conversation, ensuring smooth communication and timely patient attention. The position also involves assisting with up-staffing and down-staffing for current and incoming shifts in collaboration with the Charge Nurse, Supervisor, and Nurse Manager, and performing CNA functions as needed. Requirements

  • Must have an active valid CNA certificate in Maine.
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Obtain BLS certification within 1 year of hire into this position and maintain current certification thereafter.

Responsibilities

  • Manage incoming information via telephone, call bell, and direct conversation — ensuring communication flows smoothly and patients receive timely attention.
  • Assist with up-staffing and down-staffing for the current and incoming shifts in collaboration with the Charge Nurse, Supervisor, and Nurse Manager.
  • Perform CNA functions as needed.
  • Promote patient safety and abide by the patient fall risk program and complete fall risk rounding at least twice per shift.
  • Obtain and document vital signs and report abnormal findings to patient’s nurse.
  • Perform daily weights and report abnormal findings to patient’s nurse.
  • Appropriately document ADLs, ambulation, intake and output, vital signs, weights, safety rounding, and any other patient care activities performed throughout shift.
  • Ensure that patients have fresh water, while appropriately observing patients with NPO status or fluid restrictions.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living along with providing them with supplies.
  • Assist in ambulating patient according to physician order.
