About The Position

Meritus Health is seeking a Unit Nutrition Assistant to join its Nutrition Services team. The role supports high-quality patient food service through accurate meal selections, safe food handling, and customer service. The Unit Nutrition Assistant serves as a liaison among patients, dietitians, and foodservice staff to promote optimal nutrition care and patient satisfaction. This is a part-time position scheduled for 32 hours bi-weekly, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The role operates in a healthcare setting and follows departmental and regulatory standards for food safety and infection control.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent.
One to two years of food service experience, particularly with modified diets and direct customer service.
Clerical and typing ability.

Responsibilities

Retrieve, evaluate, and process diet orders and messages, and communicate updates to Nutrition Services and Nursing staff.
Collect patient meal selections through in-person visits or phone calls while following diet orders and accommodating patient preferences.
Process meal tickets and tally sheets, and deliver trays to patients according to schedule.
Answer and direct phone calls professionally and courteously.
Accurately operate CBORD and Bedside menu entry systems.
Follow safe food handling, storage, and infection control practices in accordance with departmental and regulatory standards, including HACCP, TJC, and Maryland Department of Health requirements.
