About The Position

Responsible for ensuring assigned work units are providing services at a professional level. Provides leadership and direction to supervisors and staff within Facilities & Support Services to ensure operations and strategic goals are met. Provides overall guidance and direction to ensure consistency of facilities standards, policies, procedures, and processes, as well as collaboration at the regional and enterprise level. Promotes teamwork, high ethical standards, quality, safety, and customer service. Responsible for managing talent, staff development, knowledge, finances, and performance of the unit. Develops metrics to validate performance and fiscal responsibility of assigned work units.

  • Management of environmental services for safe and consistent standards.
  • Knowledge of government, regulatory, and industry codes, policies, standards, and requirements for healthcare facilities (DEH, CDPH, TJC, OSHA, CMS, EOC hazardous and biohazardous waste handling, sterile cleaning procedures, infection control).
  • Development, implementation, and monitoring of EOC and EM Programs.
  • Partnership with various departments and agencies for EOC and EM Programs.
  • Development and implementation of EM training courses.
  • Chairing the Region's EOC/EM Coordinating Committee.
  • Consulting for local site EOC/EM Committees.
  • Supporting Hospital Incident Command (HIC) crisis/emergency response efforts.
  • Partnering with safety officers and Occupational Therapy for safety practices.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Practice with all space and facility construction needs.
  • Provides leadership and project management in capital planning and complex project process.
  • Ensures construction projects meet all regulatory compliance, Minnesota/Wisconsin Department of Health, and local Building and Fire Authorities requirements.
  • Must be able to manage and organize large workload for timely completion of projects through the programming, approval, design, construction, occupancy and project close out phases.
  • Implementing and ensuring division operations are conducted to provide regulatory compliance, meeting Joint Commission, OSHA, NFPA, EPA, Minnesota/Wisconsin Department of Health, and local Building and Fire Authorities requirements.
  • Overall management of the environmental services to ensure safe and consistent standards are in place.
  • Knowledgeable of government, regulatory, and industry codes, policies, standards and requirements involving a healthcare facility such as DEH, CDPH, TJC, OSHA, CMS, EOC hazardous and biohazardous waste handling, sterile cleaning procedures, and infection control requirements, codes and policies.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors Environment of Care (EOC) and Emergency Management (EM) Programs within the Mayo Clinic Health System Region.
  • Partners with Facilities, Nursing, Security, Accreditation Coordinators, community EM response agencies and other clinical leadership to ensure EOC and EM Programs align with practice needs and are in compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, occupational, health, and safety regulations.
  • Develops and implements EM training courses and chairs the Region's EOC/EM Coordinating Committee.
  • Acts as consultant for local site EOC/EM Committees and supports Hospital Incident Command (HIC) crisis / emergency response efforts.
  • Also partners with site-based safety officers and Occupational Therapy to improve patient and staff safety practices.
