Unit Educator - Cardiac ICU
About The Position
The Unit Educator plans, implements, and evaluates educational and quality improvement initiatives on the nursing unit. The role integrates new nursing knowledge into practice and supports nursing staff development and improved patient outcomes. The Unit Educator role-models excellence in patient care and collaborates with the Nurse Manager, Clinical Nurse Specialist, and Nursing Development Educators. The position is based in the 13-bed Cardiovascular ICU, which cares for cardiology and cardiothoracic surgical patients following procedural and postsurgical interventions. The unit's care involves hemodynamic monitoring, vasoactive pressor support, invasive cardiac and lung assistive devices, early cardiac rehabilitation, and extensive support for ECMO patients with cardiac and/or lung disease or trauma. The team emphasizes compassionate, holistic care for the local community, including poor and vulnerable patients.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Current Michigan RN licensure.
- Health care provider certification (BCLS).

- Equivalent of four years of clinical experience with a defined patient population.
