About The Position

Welcomes patients and families and performs general computer, receptionist, and clerical duties in a nursing unit. Provides excellent customer service and supports nursing leaders and staff. Assists patients and families, works under the supervision of the RN Charge Nurse/Clinical Coordinator, and supports and upholds the Patients' Bill of Rights.

Requirements

1–3 years of clerical or customer service experience.
Ability to manage multiple priorities.
Strong time management skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Strong customer service skills.
Computer literacy and knowledge of printers.
Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, and conflict-resolution skills.
Ability to learn appropriate software applications.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.

Nice To Haves

High school education or equivalent.
Fluency in Spanish.
Graduation from a unit secretarial course or medical terminology course.
Previous experience as a Secretary or Administrative Assistant.
Previous healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

Promptly answers patient calls, transfers calls, and gathers information to resolve issues or requests effectively.
Greets and welcomes patients, families, parents, and visitors to the nursing unit.
Provides administrative support and assists medical and clinical teams with requests and tasks.
Helps ensure every guest experience is positive and lasting.
Provides guests with a Welcome Packet and assists the clinical team in orienting guests to their patient care area and room.
Identifies and assesses guests’ needs when appropriate.
Maintains an organized nursing station.
Maintains appropriate inventory and orders supplies when needed.
Maintains non-electronic patient medical records for code blue and trauma documentation.
Scans consents and calls consults.
Requests and follows up on servicing non-functioning equipment.
Ensures all mobile computers are charged and functioning every night.
Maintains accurate patient placement and nursing assignments in electronic applications and unit spreadsheets.
