About The Position

The Cardiology Access unit is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated administrative professional to join their team as a Unit Coordinator. This individual must be able to provide night shift availability and coverage on holidays. Ellison 11 is a 36-bed Cardiology Access unit located in Boston, MA, specializing in the care of patients with acute coronary syndromes, arrhythmias, heart failure, and other vascular diagnoses. This is a permanent position requiring weekly work.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Administrative support experience 2-3 years required
  • Proficiency with office procedures and equipment i.e. filing, copying, scanning, printing and faxing.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Ability to proofread and edit written documents.
  • Ability to use phone system.
  • Managing one's own time and the time of others.
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral skills.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree Related Field of Study preferred
  • Certified Health Unit Coordinator - National Association of Health Unit Coordinators (NAHUC) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs patient care-related duties and clinical functions as assigned, including performing and documenting point of care, vital signs, EKGs, bathing and other sanitary needs of patients, transferring and assisting with ambulation of patients, 1:1 patient observation for safety purposes, and phlebotomy.
  • Assist RNs and physicians with other exams and treatments as required.
  • Completes all documentation such as height, weight, intake of fluids and food, output of urine/stool/vomit/other drainage, and blood glucose results in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Assists patients with food tray setup, eating, and feeding, as needed.
  • Ensures that patient rooms are stocked, equipped, and cleaned appropriately, as needs indicate and as patient volumes change.
  • Retrieves equipment from other areas, sets up equipment, cleans equipment between patient use, and reports malfunctioning equipment per organizational policy.
  • Assists with admitting and discharging patients.
  • Facilitates orientation of new PCA team members as directed.
  • Interacts with patients, visitors, and other care team members effectively.
  • Communicates with nursing staff effectively and in a timely manner regarding issues related to patient care and condition.
  • Fosters a positive, collaborative team environment that promotes teamwork and professional growth.
