Unit Clerk, Ambulatory Care Unit - Full-Time

About The Position

The Unit Clerk supports patient care operations in a fast-paced surgical ambulatory setting by handling order entry, medical record management, visitor assistance, and communication coordination. The role works collaboratively with clinical staff to support efficient unit workflow, manage supplies, and participate in quality improvement activities while providing service to patients and families. This is a full-time position scheduled for 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The clerk may float to various units based on identified needs. The role has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

Completion of a Unit Clerk course or equivalent on-the-job training.
Obtain approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days.
Computer knowledge is beneficial.
Demonstrate problem-solving, technical, interpersonal, motivational, professional, safety, attendance, dependability, and initiative-related skills as described in the posting.

Responsibilities

Process orders accurately and in a timely manner.
Answer telephones and call lights appropriately, provide information, and relay messages to patients and staff.
Direct visitors to patients’ rooms.
Maintain medical records for current patients.

Participate in department or unit performance improvement activities.
