About The Position

The primary purpose of the Unit Clerk position is to be responsible for the management of clerical tasks and activities and coordination of unit/service area communication and information. This role supports the care teams, provides communication between departments and maintains an organized, functional desk/station. The competent functioning of the Unit Clerk is evident by meticulously maintained patient charts. Clear, respectful and efficient communication with patient/families, physicians, departments and unit staff, as well as a neat, organized station/desk.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of experience in general clerical duties is required
  • PC literacy required
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED/College Degree/Courses preferred
  • Medical terminology course is desirable
