Requirements

High School Diploma or G.E.D. Equivalency
Strong office skills as well as interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

1 year working as a Unit Secretary in an acute care hospital.

Responsibilities

Ensuring the nursing unit runs efficiently.
Providing secretarial support for all employees within an assigned nursing unit.
Demonstrate positive interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors, other hospital departments, and unit staff.
Coordinate with Care Management concerning admissions, transfers, and discharges, and notify the hospitalist if needed.
Maintain and update patients' records for a given unit.
Perform a variety of general clerical and non-clinical patient duties, and facilitate communication.
Expedite interdepartmental services and complies and keep records required on the nursing unit.
Assist the nursing staff in coordinating the activity of the unit.
Assist with patient care/quality assurance audits.
Perform any and all other duties as assigned.
