Unit Secretary-Trauma Med Surg
About The Position
Assumes responsibility for record keeping, and intra-departmental and Inter-departmental communications. Kelemen North 7 is a 23-bed medical surgical/telemetry unit specializing in the care of trauma tically injured patients. Patients with injuries that are stable but require ongoing close monitoring are admitted to this unit directly from the ED or the Ross Trauma Admitting Area. Patients are also admitted to the unit as they are downgraded from the Trauma /Surgical ICU or the Trauma Step-Down Unit. Patients usually cared for in this area include those with trauma tic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, rib fractures and lung injuries, as well as diverse orthopedic injuries requiring frequent monitoring and care. The unit is staffed with registered nurses, critical care technicians, trauma surgery nurse practitioners and resident physicians. Staff also work closely with respiratory therapy and specialized surgical groups such as orthopedics and neurosurgery. Nurses and critical care technicians working in this area receive education specific to the care of the trauma patient.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
Nice To Haves
- Previous hospital unit secretary, medical office assistant or medical records experience preferred
- Additional unit-specific qualification may be required
- Clerical, communication and customer service experience a plus
- Unit Secretary certification is desirable
