The Surgical and Procedural Services Educator assumes the continuous responsibility for clinical leadership in regard to staff education, assessment of competency, participation in clinical management of patients to demonstrate practice, assist with new technology, develop procedures and policy and assume a partnering role with nursing management in performance improvement initiatives. The Educator is responsible for participating in the unit’s quality program, determining the effectiveness of patient care strategies, and connecting those results back to the staff by initiating education and/or necessary changes in practice to both achieve and maintain excellent patient care and clinical outcomes. Surgical and Procedural Services includes Operating Room, Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Pre-op, Pre-Anesthesia testing (PAT), Central Sterile Reprocessing, Endoscopy, Pain management and Interventional Radiology Nursing.
