About The Position

Provides information to patients, families and physicians. Greets and directs visitors. Prepares and maintains medical records. Responds to patient requests for assistance. Provides personal care under the direction of a licensed nurse. Maintains responsibility for accurately and responsively performing routine assigned clinical tasks of limited complexity. Works under direct supervision or within defined parameters.

Requirements

  • High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQI BLS) certification: Required

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification: Preferred
  • Phlebotomy Certification: Preferred
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (CMA) or Paramedic certification: Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Registered Nurse (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations and treatments.
  • Performs a variety clerical duties including routing patient reports, as appropriate.
  • Assists in scheduling patient procedures, assembling charts and maintaining patient flow.
  • Maintains responsibility for accurately and responsively performing routine assigned clinical tasks of limited complexity.
  • Documents patient care performed including vital signs, bedside care and observations.
  • Performs tasks associated with activities of daily living and provides assessment data to Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Performs routine assigned tasks and reports patients’ status and concerns to the RN.
  • Maintains state of readiness by maintaining equipment/supplies appropriate to the position.
  • Assists in cost containment through appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment.
  • Makes decisions regarding own work, often limited and confined to routine matters.
  • Prioritizes patient care and department needs, sets goals and organizes time to meet daily demands of nursing care.
  • Observes, documents and reports patient condition, and changes to condition, to the RN and/or Physician/Provider.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
