About The Position

Adventist Health Specialty Bakersfield, formerly Bakersfield Heart Hospital, is a 47-bed facility with three operating rooms and four cardiac catheterization labs, offering a range of specialty services to Kern County. The ED Technician assists Registered Nurses (RNs) and physicians with assessments, examinations, and treatments. This role involves performing various technical and patient care duties under the supervision of an RN and also includes essential functions of a Unit Secretary.

Requirements

• High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
• AHA-BLS or ARC-BLS: Required

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification: Preferred
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (CMA) or Paramedic certification: Preferred
• Phlebotomist Technician license: Preferred

Responsibilities

• Assists the Registered (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations and treatments. Documents patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care and observations.
• Maintains state of readiness by maintaining equipment/supplies appropriate to the position. Assists in cost containment through the appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment.
• Prioritizes patient care and department needs, sets goals, and organizes time to meet daily demands of nursing care. Observes, documents and reports patient condition and changes in condition to the RN, MD/Provider.
• Provides patient and family education within scope of practice.
• Documents patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care and observations. Records and collects specimens.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
