About The Position

This is a full-time position for a Unit Assistant I in the Emergency Department, working a night shift from 7pm to 7am on weekdays only. The work location is the UAB St. Vincent's Freestanding ED in Trussville, AL. The role involves performing administrative and clerical duties to support an assigned clinical area.

Requirements

High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Responsibilities

Perform administrative and clerical duties in support of an assigned clinical area.
Greet patients and visitors, answer/screen/route telephone calls, files, distribute mail and performs other general clerical duties.
Communicate with patients, families, physicians and other healthcare team members about patient care according to protocol.
Schedule patients for individual appointment and in a timely manner.
Provide assistance with programs/software for Physicians/Clinicians through the order entry processes, transfers and discharges.
Assemble and maintain patient charts.
Coordinate meetings/schedules meetings/rooms with the appropriate person, send notices as requested.
Maintain meeting minutes.
Enter and maintain timekeeping changes and staff schedules in computer systems.
