About The Position

Baystate Health is seeking an Emergency Department Assistant (EDA) to join our Emergency Department team at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. Our Emergency Department team provides care to a diverse adult patient population, working closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, compassionate, high-quality care.

Requirements

• Full-Time, 36 hours per week
• Day shift, 7am-7:30pm
• 12-hour shifts
• Every other Saturday and Sunday
• Every other Holiday

Responsibilities

• Provides age-appropriate care in emergency, trauma, pediatric, and behavioral health settings.
• Observes patients and reports changes in physical or behavioral conditions.
• Assists with personal care, vital signs, mobility, transfers, positioning, and patient safety.
• Performs assigned procedures and safely operates patient care equipment.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and organized patient care environment.
• Uses appropriate de-escalation, restraint, and safety procedures.
• Completes behavioral health observation and safety duties as assigned.
• Maintains accurate and timely patient documentation.
• Completes required training and follows hospital policies and procedures.
