This position performs administrative and clerical duties in support of the Emergency Department. The Unit Assistant will greet patients and visitors, answer and screen telephone calls, file documents, distribute mail, and perform other general clerical duties. They will communicate with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare team members regarding patient care according to protocol. Responsibilities include scheduling patient appointments, assisting with order entry, transfers, and discharges through physician/clinician software, and assembling and maintaining patient charts. The role also involves coordinating and scheduling meetings, maintaining meeting minutes, and entering/maintaining timekeeping changes and staff schedules in computer systems.
