About The Position

This is a private 17-bed unit (12 ICU beds and 5 open heart recovery beds) that specializes in cardiac care for patients who have had cardiothoracic surgery. This includes: CABG (Coronary artery bypass grafting), MVR (Mitral valve repair/replacement, AVR (aortic valve replacement), Thoracotomies, carotids and femoral popliteal bypass. The Unit Assistant will perform administrative and clerical duties in support of an assigned clinical area. They will greet patients and visitors, answer/screen/route telephone calls, file, distribute mail and perform other general clerical duties. They will communicate with patients, families, physicians and other healthcare team members about patient care according to protocol. They will schedule patients for individual appointments in a timely manner, and provide assistance with programs/software for Physicians/Clinicians through the order entry processes, transfers and discharges. They will assemble and maintain patient charts, coordinate and schedule meetings/rooms with the appropriate person, and send notices as requested. They will also maintain meeting minutes and enter and maintain timekeeping changes and staff schedules in computer systems.

Requirements

  • High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Nice To Haves

  • BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
