About The Position
The UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) is an 18-bed tertiary and quaternary cardiac surgical intensive care unit that cares for critically ill neonates through adults with congenital heart defects. PCICU patients arrive through our in-house, nurse-managed Transport Team and Access Center for care that can only be provided at UCSF Medical Center or direct referrals for specialized surgical care. These patients receive care for a variety of life-threatening medical and surgical conditions. Nurses on this unit learn the skills necessary to maintain vital functions for these fragile children, while supporting their families through difficult times.

Responsibilities
- Supervises staff involved in providing clinical patient care.
- Assists in ensuring the quality of patient care delivery in a specific patient care area.
- Serves as a role model for professional nursing practice.
- Assists with the administration and management of personnel, fiscal, and material resources.
- May assume full responsibility for the unit in delegated areas and in the absence of the manager.
