About The Position

Tokio Marine HCC – Surety Group, a member of the Tokio Marine Group of Companies, is hiring a Summer 2027 Underwriting Intern for its Blue Bell office. The intern will gain practical experience working alongside surety contract and commercial underwriters, learn surety underwriting concepts, and provide administrative support to the underwriting team. The role is intended to build the intern’s knowledge of surety underwriting and skills for a potential career in the field.

Requirements

Be working toward a bachelor’s degree and be a current or recent enrollee studying Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or Risk Management, or have equivalent education and/or experience.
Have completed 60 units of general college coursework with a GPA of 3.0 or greater.
Be available to work consecutive weeks throughout the summer.
Demonstrate leadership capabilities.
Have good organizational and analytical skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Have good written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
Show initiative, contribute actively to activities, and be motivated to succeed.

Responsibilities

Enter and verify information in proprietary software and databases.
Set up files accurately and within expected timeframes while adhering to established standards.
Gather financial information.
Learn preliminary credit and financial analysis and verify credit.
Communicate with brokers about billing and process-status inquiries.
Learn the group’s file procedures, underwriting terms, data sources, and operational systems.
Complete other tasks that support the underwriters.
