About The Position

The Underwriting Intern trains with key team members to learn and participate in underwriting and servicing renewal accounts to support the development and retention of Admiral business. This is a 10-week internship running June 7 through August 12, 2027, with a salary of $25 per hour. Work may be performed remotely and potentially on a hybrid, in-person schedule during the summer. The intern also participates in a collaborative group project with interns from other Admiral departments and completes other duties and assignments as part of the internship experience.

Admiral Insurance Group specializes in underwriting difficult-to-place moderate- to high-risk commercial businesses through wholesale-dedicated excess and surplus lines. It is a member of W. R. Berkley Corporation. Sponsorship is not offered for this role.

Requirements

• Pursuit of a bachelor's degree; a focus in Risk Management and Insurance or a related program or field is preferred.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Interest in enhancing classroom learning through practical, career-related industry experience.
• Ability to assess priorities and manage deadlines effectively.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

• Rising junior or senior student preferred.
• Prior work experience preferred.
• Career interest in underwriting and excess and surplus lines.

Responsibilities

• Learn to evaluate and price Admiral renewal business in accordance with service standards, objectives, and underwriting guidelines.
• Apply analytical skills while learning underwriting processes and renewal account servicing.
• Participate in a collaborative group project with interns from other Admiral departments.
• Work independently on a remote and/or potentially hybrid, in-person schedule during the summer.
• Perform ad-hoc financial analysis to support business partners.
• Complete other duties and assignments as part of the internship experience.
