About The Position

The Underwriting Assistant in Fine Art and Specie supports the underwriting lifecycle from submission through policy issuance by owning and facilitating assigned accounts. The role translates broker and client information into clear, complete risk analyses and underwriting packages, and collaborates with Underwriters, Brokers, Reinsurers, and cross-functional partners to support timely, accurate, and compliant outcomes. It combines analytical and customer service skills with a commitment to data quality, regulatory compliance, and the adoption of approved AI-enabled tools that enhance efficiency, insights, and customer value.

The position provides underwriting support for Fine Art & Specie and manages end-to-end underwriting activities across submission, review, issuance, and renewal or expiration under Underwriter guidance. It gathers and validates information, prepares policy documentation, assists with pricing inputs and coverage structuring, maintains files and controls, monitors workflow, and supports renewal preparation and process improvements. The role reports to the Assistant Operations Manager.

This is a permanent, full-time hybrid position. The current hybrid model requires three days in the office, including a Monday or Friday, with the other two days available to work remotely.

Responsibilities

• Provide underwriting support for Fine Art & Specie to enable prudent risk selection and efficient policy administration.
• Manage end-to-end underwriting activities across submission, review, issuance, and renewal or expiration under Underwriter guidance.
• Gather, validate, and organize information from Brokers, Clients, Reinsurers, Shared Services, IT, Claims, and Accounting to support risk analysis.
• Prepare policy documentation, including binders, endorsements, and regulatory notices, and assist with pricing inputs and coverage structuring, including urgent requests.
• Maintain accurate electronic files and ensure adherence to audit standards, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
• Monitor workflow across accounts, identify bottlenecks, and escalate issues as needed.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely, high-quality service delivery.
• Support renewal preparation and ongoing process improvements, and participate in testing when applicable.
• Use and adopt approved AI and automation tools to enhance underwriting support processes, improve customer outcomes, increase efficiency, and contribute to continuous process improvement.
