Underwriting Assistant
About The Position
Illinois Casualty Company is seeking an Underwriting Assistant to support an Underwriting team and assigned territory. The role helps develop mutually beneficial relationships with agents and producers to support the writing of profitable risks. The Underwriting Assistant processes requests from agents and policyholders and handles renewals and endorsements within a designated authority level. Requirements
- Two-year degree.
- At least 3 years of administrative training and insurance industry experience.
- Proficiency in reading and understanding policy forms and endorsements.
- Intermediate proficiency with word processing, data entry, and spreadsheet application software.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Respond to routine inquiries from agents and policyholders about quotes, endorsements, renewals, cancellations, and other matters.
- Complete assigned pre-renewals within the designated timeline before policy expiration.
- Quote and/or issue endorsements, ensuring changes are accurate.
- Evaluate renewal data according to established underwriting guidelines, considering territory profitability and appropriate loss ratios, pricing effectively, and maintaining a suitable retention ratio.
