About The Position

The Underwriting Analyst will support underwriting activities for Starr’s Energy Casualty portfolio. The role assists with risk evaluation, rating, quoting, pre-underwriting, policy and account processing, renewals, and service for bound accounts. The analyst also responds to brokers and helps resolve issues with internal teams and external partners.

Requirements

• Basic understanding of insurance products.
• Ability to handle tasks independently.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a team environment.
• Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in risk evaluation, rating, and quoting for General Liability, Auto, Excess, and Workers’ Compensation lines of business.
• Pre-underwrite new business by analyzing losses and gathering information, including MVRs and D&B reports.
• Assist underwriters with issuing quotations, processing and booking invoices, preparing binders, and setting up files.
• Collect renewal information and prepare renewal submissions for the underwriter.
• Provide interim service on bound accounts and participate in the self-audit process.
• Respond to brokers’ questions and troubleshoot issues in a timely manner.
• Help the team provide information and solve problems with accounting, operations, TPAs, and the claims department.
