We are a subsidiary of Intact Financial Corporation. We’re looking for an Intermediate or Senior Underwriter, Marine to join our growing Coast Underwriters team !

Requirements

• University degree/College diploma or any combination of equivalent education and experience
• Minimum 3 years experience in Speciality Lines Underwriting for intermediate level and minimum 5 years for the senior level.
• Experience in marine underwriting is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge in Excel is an asset
• Analytical, self-motivated and strive to deliver at a high standard
• Initiative and ability to work under pressure
• Strong team player, with outstanding collaboration and communication skills
• Can develop and maintain excellent relationships with brokers
• Interested in and stay up to date on business trends or other developments impacting our industry
• Industry acknowledged license such CIP/CRM/ CAIB, etc. or working towards it.
• No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Analyze requests for quotes, renewals and policy changes, and recommend solutions
• Support brokers regarding underwriting and rating policies
• Use negotiating skills to maintain healthy relationships within and outside the company
• Participate in broker visits, industry functions and marketing events
• Provide ongoing support in expanding the department, and make recommendations for process improvements
• Rate and prepare quotes for new business and renewals
• Handle policy transactions including renewals, endorsements and cancellations.
• As directed, generate letters and memos to brokers from the system.
• Support team members within Specialty Solutions as well as other divisions at Intact
