About The Position

As a Senior Commercial Lines Underwriter, your role involves evaluating and deciding whether to accept, decline, or adjust complex/high-valued Commercial Lines risk. You will have an assigned territory and expectation to travel with, or without, our Marketing team to meet with your assigned agents on a frequent basis. The ideal candidate would be located in Pennsylvania, near our Lancaster office would be preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Accepts, rejects, and modifies complex/high-valued Commercial Lines new business risks.
  • Provides Commercial Lines underwriting guidance and expertise to Commercial Lines Lead Underwriters on decisions that involve large values.
  • Assists Commercial Lines Underwriting Management and Technical Specialist in overseeing the assignment of work and decision making to an underwriting team.
  • Prepare and analyze Commercial Lines underwriting file audits.
  • Monitors Commercial Lines Claims Reports to Underwriting (CRU), collaborating with the Claims Department and Underwriting Management on decision-making.
  • Includes collaborating with Commercial Lines underwriters to create actions plans to resolve issues notes in CRU.
  • Assists in the coordination of major book of Commercial Lines business initiatives including, but not limited to, line of business and or agency reunderwrites.
  • Review and research Commercial Lines coverage issues, as directed.
  • Collaborate with Commercial Lines Manager to research and prepare various Policyholder and Regulator complaints and compliance responses.
  • Communicates with marketing representatives, agency staff, and other insurance or inspection companies to gather information, provide quotes, or clarify underwriting policies.
  • Develops new Commercial Lines business development strategies for new territories and Agencies.
  • Develops and maintains positive Company/Agency relations which includes agency travel and visitation, and attendance at various conventions/meetings. (May include overnight stays).
