We are a subsidiary of Intact Financial Corporation. We’re looking for a Specialist, Marine to join our growing Coast Underwriters team!

Requirements

• University degree/College diploma or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
• Minimum 8 years of marine insurance experience.
• Underwriting experience is a plus.
• Highly organized, with the ability to work towards goals while adapting to change in a fast paced environment.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to persuade as well as challenge others.
• Can deal effectively and respectfully with individuals at all levels of the organization.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and in collaboration with national departmental teams.
• Effective analytical, negotiating and decision-making skills.
• Can work well under tight deadlines, including organizational and time management skills.
• High level of integrity, confidentiality and accountability.
• Digital and Data Acumen, understanding how these two items can support and facilitate the customer and Underwriters experience.
• CIP or industry equivalent designation is a must.
• Willing to travel on occasion.
• No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Support the strategic product development plan to achieve growth targets.
• Develop guidelines, authority statements and manage the referral process to support performance and underwriting.
• Gather market intelligence by working directly with distribution, brokers and customers and compare Intact's product offering to the competition.
• Research technology-based solutions for pricing, underwriting, risk assessment and loss mitigation opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal teams to explore new growth and profitability opportunities through technical research and relationship building.
• Assist in portfolio management through governance best practices, profitability and growth analysis.
• Perform technical underwriting audit.
• Communicate changes related underwriting guidelines and new products.
• Provide underwriting training, lending expertise colleagues and distribution underwriters.
