About The Position

The Underwriter II is responsible for delivering profitable underwriting service to clients in Political Risk and Credit (PRC). The role reviews submissions—including applications, financial statements, credit memos, technical reports, and legal due diligence reports—to determine whether transactions meet risk appetite standards, with a strategic focus on medium- to long-term transactions. It supports business planning and forecasting, monitors financial exposure and premium income within established limits, and works within agreed business plans and individual authority. The position negotiates bespoke policy wordings, calculates risk premiums that account for political or credit risks, reinsurance cessions, and underwriting and administrative costs, and helps design and structure risks. It proactively advises and services clients on insurance and risk management matters, builds relationships with brokers and clients to grow PRC transaction flow and identify cross-selling opportunities, and ensures timely implementation of new and renewed accounts. The underwriter remains aware of claims and provides input on settlements, while collaborating with underwriters, underwriting assistants, and management. The position reports to a Senior or Executive Underwriter.
