About The Position

Sureway Construction is one of Alberta’s largest heavy construction contractors, with over 50 years’ experience, involved in civil earthworks and grading, utilities and offsite, mine operation and aggregate extraction. This is a seasonal, full-time position for the upcoming Spring 2026 season. Relocation to EDMONTON, AB is required and is the responsibility of the candidate. No LOA or accommodation is provided.

Requirements

Personal Reliable Vehicle
CSA approved steel toed boots with 6” ankle support
Drug and alcohol testing (swab-based test)
Successful completion of Company Orientation and site-specific orientation
Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a Mainline Excavator operator.
Experience in water/sewer installations, subdivision servicing, roadway construction and urban renewal projects.
Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Topman in Water and Sewer.
Experience Shooting grades with a Rod and Level and or Batterboards.
Minimum 2 years’ experience as a hoe pack operator.
Experience with water & sewer
Minimum 2 years’ experience running a track loader.
Minimum 2 years’ experience running a loader.
Experience loading rail cars, trucks, belly dumps, bins, etc.
Minimum 2 years’ experience as a pipelayer/pipelayer helper.

Responsibilities

Operate Loader controls to lower and tilt bucket and drive forward to force bucket into bulk material.
Directs activities within the trench to ensure the pipe is laid to the designed vertical and horizontal tolerances using levels or lasers.
Align and position pipes to prepare them for welding, cementing or sealing with glue.
Monitors backfill of pipe bedding to ensure proper haunch support.
