About The Position

Nevada Gold Mines is seeking an Underground Surveyor to join its Goldstrike UG Engineering team. The role provides accurate surveying and sampling to the Mining Group and supports underground and surface mining operations. The successful candidate takes and records measurements, supports engineering functions such as stope design and production planning, and uses engineering designs to guide mining activities through line and grade work. The position uses surveying equipment, including total stations and scanners, and requires the ability to work safely in an underground mining environment, drive assigned company vehicles, and traverse significant grades and uneven ground. The description also refers to the role as Sr. Underground Surveyor, but identifies the position as Underground Surveyor in the responsibilities section.

Requirements

• Strong math and computer skills.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Commitment to developing and maintaining a safe work culture.
• Ability to drive assigned company vehicles on surface and underground.
• Ability to walk significant grades and uneven ground and meet the physical requirements of the position.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work safely in an underground mining environment.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of basic survey methods.
• Degree in Mining Engineering or applicable experience.
• Knowledge of underground mining methods and design.
• Prior experience in Narrow Vein Long hole Stoping.
• Computer skills with 3D drafting programs.
• Strong verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Take accurate measurements of underground and surface workings and maintain accurate, secure records.
• Assist the engineering team with critical functions, including stope design and production planning.
• Use engineering designs to guide mining activities through line and grade work.
• Use equipment such as total stations and scanners to generate accurate surveys.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
