About The Position

Concordia University seeks applicants for a part-time undergraduate faculty position in the School of Nursing (SON). The successful candidate is a registered professional nurse with a terminal degree who is responsible for classroom teaching (face to face, online, and blended), as well as the potential for clinical instruction, and other activities relating to nursing education. This is a twelve-month on-site contract with the University. The successful candidate will be expected to be on campus on days when assigned classes are scheduled, as well as Mondays and Thursdays for department and School of Nursing meetings. This position reports to the Undergraduate Nursing Program Chairperson.

Requirements

  • Registered professional nurse with a terminal degree
  • Current Wisconsin and Michigan licensure as a registered nurse or eligible for such licensure
  • Master of Science Degree in Nursing and an earned doctorate in nursing or related field
  • Current knowledge of theoretical principles and clinical practice within at least one of the following specialty areas is required: pharmacology, community health, psychological health, med-surg, and/or obstetrics/women's health
  • All Concordia faculty members must be members of Christian congregations and supportive of the mission and values of Concordia University Wisconsin/Ann Arbor and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS).

  • Previous teaching experience in a baccalaureate or higher degree program is preferred
  • Previous use of innovative and active teaching strategies, including simulation and VR, and AI

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses as assigned in areas of expertise, meeting diverse learning needs of undergraduate nursing students
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to students
  • Provide timely written and verbal feedback related to student performance
  • Participate in ongoing course and program review and revision
  • Participate in program governance
  • Teach and/or coordinate clinical courses based on professional expertise
  • Follow SON policies and procedures related to clinical teaching and student performance
  • Communicate regularly with course coordinators and program director/chair regarding concerns
  • Work collaboratively with staff at assigned clinical facilities/agencies
  • Meet the health and vaccination requirements for all health care clinical affiliates who partner with the SON programs.
  • Maintain unencumbered RN licensure and current knowledge of clinical practice within the areas of teaching responsibility
  • Assist with recruitment of students
  • Participate in professional, community, university, and school service
  • Engage in scholarship commensurate with academic rank
  • Other duties as assigned
