This role handles low-complexity cases of uncleared and abandoned import & export containers that have not been collected from the port/quay/terminal/rail after discharge. The primary goal is to recover charges or minimize MSC's costs while maintaining excellent customer service. The UAC Clerk will communicate with customers and internal departments, follow MSC procedures, and manage various aspects of UAC cases, including sending notifications, handling customer requests for discounts or waivers, managing changes in consignee, facilitating re-exportation, arranging de-stuffing in warehouses, and applying charges and fees with HQ approval. The role also involves preventing UAC cases by prescreening high-risk bookings, checking customer importance, verifying customer awareness of shipments and necessary documentation, ensuring commodity acceptance by receiving countries, and potentially requesting security deposits or Letters of Indemnity for high-risk shipments. In cases of abandonment, the clerk will proceed with cargo salvage, destruction, or public auction as directed by authorities. The role also involves involving the Legal department for cost recovery and offering financial settlement options to customers.
