About The Position

Johnson Memorial Health is seeking an Unarmed Security Staff member to monitor and respond to security concerns during day shifts. This role involves applying de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques, assisting clinical staff with patient safety, and enforcing hospital rules and policies. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, at least one year of relevant experience, and the ability to work rotating weekend shifts.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
At least 1 year of relevant experience required (for example: military, Patient Care Tech, first responder, nursing, crisis intervention, self-defense training, law enforcement).

Nice To Haves

Security Guard Training Certification (Certified Protection Officer (CPO), Physical Security Professional (PSP), Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) preferred.

Responsibilities

Apply de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques to manage behavioral incidents safely.
Assist clinical staff with emergency detention holds and with patients at risk of harm to self or others.
Support staff during behavioral emergencies.
Escort patients to and from units, intake, or dismissal as directed.
Participate in post-incident debriefings with staff and patients when appropriate.
Respond to urgent situations such as patient disruptions, environmental safety concerns, or emergency arrivals.
Monitor/observe locations involving security concerns.
Enforce JMH rules and policies through professional interaction with patients, staff, and visitors.
Provide guidance and clear direction to others while maintaining professionalism.
Participate in Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance initiatives as directed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Clearly communicate and continuously support the Mission and Values of Johnson Memorial.
Conduct all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and JMH policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.
